Kirkfield & District Historical Society

The Archives.

The Kirkfield & District Historical Society is building a suite of digital research resources rooted in the records of Eldon Township and the surrounding communities. Each resource below represents original research — gathered from abstract books and cemetery headstones. These resources are living projects. They grow as research continues. If you find a name that belongs to your family, we want to hear from you!

People of the Portage

Which families held the original land patents along the Portage Road in Eldon Township?

This searchable index draws from the Eldon Township Abstract Books and covers all 61 lots to the north and south of Portage Road — the road The Olde Kirk has called home since 1905.

God's Acre — The Old Burying Ground

146 individuals named on 88 stones in the Old North Section of Lakeview Cemetery, Kirkfield. This hidden  part of the municipal cemetery has been in use since the 1860s.
