God's Acre - The Old Burying Ground
Tucked into the Old North Section of Lakeview Cemetery, this largely hidden corner of Kirkfield’s municipal cemetery has been in use since the 1860s. Many of the stones are sinking, some have broken and a few have disappeared entirely.
The 88 stones of the Old North Section hold 146 individuals names — men and women who came from Scotland, Ireland, England, Quebec, and even India. They were farmers, reeves, infants, and pioneers and were of the generation that founded this place.
